Installing Pergo Over Carpet

Installing pergo over carpet. Installing laminate flooring over carpet is not recommended in most installation situations. Pergo laminate and engineered flooring can be installed on any level of your home. You can re install the molding afterward or install a pergo shoe molding that matches the floor. Plywood is highly recommended when installing over high pile carpet.

Homeowners may not want to go to all the trouble of tearing up carpet and padding. If you re laying pergo over concrete remove all carpet trim and other things covering the sub floor to expose the concrete underneath. Pergo laminate and locking engineered planks simply click together. Some pergo laminate products feature attached underlayment.

After removing the shoe molding pergo fits close to the baseboard. Pergo floors can be walked on as soon as they re installed. Before laying pergo it s a good idea to smooth out the concrete to make sure that you ve got the flattest surface possible for the new installation. If you are using more than one sheet of plywood tape the sheets together at the seam.

Why not just tear up the carpet. If you have severe allergies stirring up all the dust and dirt that may be settled into the carpet could keep you sneezing for weeks. Pergo will not fit under door. Pergo hardwood must be installed above grade.
