Iron Carpet Dents
Get furniture dents out of carpet with an iron.
Iron carpet dents. To remove furniture dents from carpet made of synthetic fibers start by placing a towel rag or other absorbent material under the carpet where the dent is to protect the floor underneath. Use a soft bristle brush to ruffle the fibres and bring them back to their normal shape. Apply a hot clothes iron to the cloth. Fill the iron with water place it on the highest heat setting and allow it to heat up.
To remove carpet indentations. Give dents the cold shoulder by placing a large ice cube or multiple cubes if you re dealing with larger indentations directly into the carpet divot. First spray the dent just enough to moisten the spot then turn your blow dryer on its highest setting and point it directly toward the dent about four to six inches away until the carpet is hot. Never press an iron directly onto the carpet.
Place a clean and wet damp cloth over the carpet dents and hold an iron on medium heat for about 30 to 60 seconds over the cloth. Indentations in carpet usually result when furniture has been moved. Hold the iron around 10 15cm from the carpet. Let the ice melt for at least a few hours.
To raise flattened pile carpet you can try using an iron to get rid of the dents. Place a damp cloth over the indentation. Different carpet materials require different dent removal methods. Follow the same steps as the iron and ice cube trick by fluffing up those fibers and vacuuming.
Make sure to lay towels under your rug if you can when using the ice cube method. If still dented spray the affected area with a light mist of water run your fingers through the fibers then heat the area with a hair dryer set to medium heat for several minutes pausing. First place a damp cloth over the flattened carpet to protect it from the heat of the iron. Wait 12 hours blot up wet spots then use the edge of a spoon to lift carpet fibers back up. Steam the dents with a carpet steamer or with a damp white tea towel ironed in place then run your fingers or the plastic card through the fibers again. Then adjust the iron setting to medium heat and steadily iron over the cloth for 30 to 60 seconds.
Steam the dents until the fibres are wet and hot. Repeat the process until the indentation goes away.
